What a way to make your first Instagram post count! At Midnight on Saturday 13th April 2014 at the Coachella Music Festival, Alexander Wang took to the social network and posted the video above!
Wang’s thoughts and ideas on contemporary urban dressing, sent him soaring into the fashion industry. His designs resonate with the the urban, street style followers who also desire a fashion edge. In addition to this Wang has shows his talent in creating more sophisticated designs shown in his collections for the house of Balenciaga.
The countdown clock appears, and when the timer runs out, “WANG X H&M” is revealed up alongside the numbers 11:06 —Wang will design both mens and womenswear collections and they will be sold in 250 H&M stores worldwide, and online starting November 6, 2014.
This is the first time that Swedish brand H&M has partnered with an American designer for a collaboration. It is something that the brand are known for allowing people to have a little designer luxury at a fraction of the cost. The most recent guest designer for H&M was Isabel Marant. Prior to Maran there were collections by Maison Martin Margiela, Versace, Alber Elbaz for Lanvin and Karl Lagerfeld and Editor of Japanese Vogue Anna Dello Russo to name a few.
“I am very honoured to be a part of H&M’s designer collaborations. The work with their team is an exciting fun process. They are very open to pushing boundaries and to setting a platform for creativity. This will be a great way for a wider audience to experience elements of the Alexander Wang brand and lifestyle,” said Wang in a statement.
“We’ve always liked Alexander’s designs,” explained H&M’s creative advisor, Margareta van den Bosch. “He’s very contemporary. It’s very young, but it’s also things that can be worn by any age because of his influences in tailoring and sport. He’s very much today.”
